Nima Gorji is one of minimal/deep tech’s most prolific artists, and his new EP comes via the Suleiman record label.
Originally from Iran, but currently living in Ibiza, Nima Gorji is a regular feature of nightclubs on the white isle, as he plays at many of Ibiza’s best underground events. He has also played international shows in locations ranging from Mexico to Australia.
His techy rhythms and deep atmosphere are a winning combination that is often soulful and hypnotic, and his new Let’s Talk EP is a great example of this. Not only does it have two originals by Nima Gorji, but it also enlists the remix skills of Franco Cinelli.
Franco Cinelli is an Argentinian who mixes jazz influences with deep techno elements, and the outcome is dynamic minimal with dancefloor-focused energy.
“Freedom” is the first of the two original tracks, and its joyous melody and trippy vocal stutters lay a foundation for soulful vocals. Sweeping pads, shuffling percussion and an acid lead synth ensure there is never a dull moment in this chic slice of deep tech.
Franco Cinelli remixes “Freedom” into a groove-laden version with a funky bassline, and digitally processed vocal textures adding to the original’s vocal and pads. Removing the acid line and melody gives this percussive rework a truly hypnotic sound.
“Your Mind” is the second of the original tracks, and has an acid bassline and shimmering pads combined with deep vocals, while the upbeat percussion creates a body-moving flow of energy.
